I am excited to bring my passion for life and growth, as well as my experience, to the work I do with children and families. I have been working with children for over twenty years in a variety of settings including schools and alternative programs for children with emotional and behavioral challenges, the Children’s Hospital of Oakland with children with chronic disease, as well as with families with children with special needs children. I have a BA in Psychology from UC Berkeley and an MA from the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) in Integral Counseling Psychology . I have been fortunate enough to work with and learn from some of the cutting edge leaders in the field of Play Therapy. In 2009 I completed an intensive Play Therapy training with Drs. Byron and Carol Norton. I am a certified Synergetic Play Therapist. I am trained in EMDR and utilize it with my clients to strengthen their internal resources and process and integrate stress and trauma. I work hard to keep my training and education current with the latest research and developments in Play Therapy and child development.

I believe that fostering our passions gives us a medium to make deeper connections with ourselves and others. My greatest passion is being a parent to my daughter and connecting with my family. I also love spending time active in the outdoors, skiing, running, climbing and practicing yoga.

Like so many individual seeking counseling, I have experienced the struggles and stresses that life can present us; thus, I know that therapy is a priceless source of support and comfort in difficult times. In my practice, I am fully committed to the well-being of my clients. I am dedicated to providing the highest level of support and compassion, while creating a space in which my clients can feel, explore, learn, grow and heal.

I have a passion for meeting new people and supporting them in seeing their unique gifts and abilities. I have an approachable and easy-going manner along with a good sense of humor and deeply empathetic ear. My relaxed and playful style invites children to discover and engage their own creative potential. With a knack for connecting with unique kids where they are, I help them build confidence and autonomy while also enabling them to boldly step into the world with their own self-assured expression of identity.

We are living in unprecedented times. Our children have lived through the pandemic and fires within Boulder county while absorbing the fear and unknown of the adults in their lives navigating through the uncertainty of health, employment, financial, academic, and residence insecurity. Understandably, due to these hardships, we are seeing a large number of children experiencing high levels of anxiety. Children are needing to find environments and skills that foster their ability to return to self-regulation, calm, and a sense of safety and joy. I feel that this is the most important gift we can offer to children and their families here at Colorado Play Therapy and Parenting Support.

I have spent many years working with children on various creative projects and after school programs in locations such as the Canadian Arctic, Harlem, the Bronx, rural Tennessee, and Boulder County. I received my undergraduate degree in English Literature from University of Colorado and my graduate degree in Clinical Mental Health from Adams State University. I did my internship work was with Monarch High School
and the Child, Adolescent, and Family division of Mental Health Partners. I have pursued additional education in the Creative Arts at NYU and Rochester Institute of Technology, in addition to several trainings at both the Synergetic Play Therapy Institute and the Boulder Art Therapy Collective. These opportunities have inspired me to think creatively outside the box and be curious about and welcome to the unique experiences of others.

I believe that there is an innate wisdom in each person which helps guide them toward healing. I am excited to work with your children to illuminate solutions that will untangle the ways in which they feel stuck, lost, or fearful. Together, we will move forward, creatively, to uncover the next steps.
